Outer Voices is a Chicago-based ensemble founded in 2013 by composers Kenn Kumpf and Robert Reinhart. We are dedicated to the performance of one-per-part vocal repertoire that is seldom heard, specifically that from before ca. 1700 and after ca. 1950.
Outer Voices will be appearing alongside percussionist Ryan Packard at 8:30pm on Sunday, June 7th at Constellation (3111 N. Western Ave., Chicago). Packard's set will include very recent works for solo percussion as well as percussion with clarinet, guitar, and video projections, including works by Finnissy, Brandes, Omelchuk, and Packard. Outer Voices' portion includes both late medieval and late contemporary works involving resultant harmony, including Nomi Epstein's recent work Four Voices and Solage's highly unusual and mysterious Fumeux fume par fumée.
